Well, over the weekend, myself and my dive buddy and close friend (Scott Riemer) finished our PADI certification off the shore of Catalina island.

Despite the hyper-early alarm settings and meet times, it was worth it! Sat was two beach dives at Shaw's in Laguna Beach. That was tiring lugging gear up and down those steps.

Sunday, over to Catalina on the Mr-C boat with about 15 divers. Friendly crew and helpful for this rookie. Three dives total off the boat. The third dive was on our own since we were certified after the second dive:)

Regulars of Catalina diving said the vis was poor as I cannot comment since I dont have any experience to reference. But overall vis was about 15', maybe 20' in spots.

Anyhow, proud to finally be certified!

Congratulations on your cert. My gf and I will be out your way in mid June, looking to dive around Catalina.

Congrats... Chris.. You are off to a great start.. Have fun ..

Thanks all for the congrats!

I was really stoked to get the certification. One of many things this coarse has taught me is too never take diving for granted. I do have the thoughts go through my head as I look up at the surface from a lowly 30' and think 'hope nothing goes wrong since the surface seems so far away'...

I really look forward to gaining experience and constant learning. In the future, I would definately love to get my own equipment and only have to buy 'refills' for every dive instead of renting gear etc.

Since I am a bulletin board junkie, see http://forums.rennlist.com/menu/content.htm
I am glad I found a bbs that involves SCUBA. This board seems to be full of great people, making the sport/hobby of diving even more pleasurable!
