Good points. Keep them coming.

Speaking about lighting and dive buddies. Hopefully one day, I will get a regular dive buddy that is willing to help with lighting.

Just think of the benefits of having them handle the lighting. The problems of lighting buoyancy, weight, arms, all go away and you can play with unique lighting angles etc..

I've always wanted to do a night shot where there is a lighting gap in between me and the subject. For example, the subject is 10 feet away from me. My buddy shines the light from above the subject. The camera sees the subject lit, but everything surrounding the subject is dark. I think it would look cool.

yeah... I had a couple of shots ruined on my last trip as a guy kept swimming up while I was already shooting and pointing his little flashlight at my subject... grrrr. I had the red filter on so I get a huge red blast on my perfectly lit subject. gggggrrrrrrr!!!

I wanted to second Robin's advice on the value of having a story or theme to hold the entire presentation together.

Also, I would suggest encouraging them to put the effort into editing their videos and making it more enjoyable for audience members who were not on the dive. It can be the difference between having a willing audience and having to "trap victims" for the next round of videos. ;-)

Other things you might suggest are to watch lots of dive videos with a critical eye and figure out what makes good videos successful, and what to avoid doing in their own videos.

Good luck with the presentation!

Hey Ron,

Maybe you should tape your presentation and then share it with the rest of the group! I'm talking about us of course. :D

Now that would be a boring video. Although if I set manual white balance correctly and have a few $4k LED and HID lights, at least the color will be good.:D
