Hey folk,
I'm planning on getting a digital camera & housing soon (might be getting a camera for Christmas but I'm not sure). Would it be worthwile to practice taking shots in a pool? We have a swim pool in our back yard & the deepest it gets is ~5 feet. I figure it would help learn to frame & focus with the housing & mask on.

I think that's a great idea. Place different size objects in the pool to practice focusing, macro, super macro etc.
Nothing like knowing your camera before you spend the money on a dive trip.

Almost all practice is worthwhile. Not only will it give you a chance to work with the camera, but even that shallow a depth will give you a chance to work on the bouyancy skills as you will need when trying to take pictures.
