Hi guys!
Glad to be a part of this great group :)

Here it goes (After using the search and getting no results)

I have an Olympus omd em-5 with the Oly housing.
PPO-EP01 port

Usually dive with the great M.Zuiko 12-50 mm, sometimes with the M.Zuiko 60mm macro

I wish to attach an external wide wet lens (For many reasons, but mostly practical: I do macro most of the time, and I'd like to have the option to switch for a single wide picture here and there, but not to dedicate a full dive for an 8 mm lens with dome port)

I Was considering this item (From the link here Reef Images - Underwater Photo Accessories )

It requires replacing the current front ring and replacing it

What do you think about it? Anybody tried it? Is it water tights? Will I have good results using it with a wide angle lens?

If you have recommendations for other options available, please let me know :)

Hi Cobi Hay Yacobi,
I have the em5/14-42mm/pt-ep08/ppo-ep01 combination and have bought Jeff's replacement front ring for the ppo-ep01 to give you a 67mm thread. I bought it to mount my collection of Inon wet lenses (macro and wide angle+dome) from a previous camera.

Firstly, it's fairly simple to replace the front ring, just unscrew the old one and replace. I've mounted all my lenses on the front successfully. No leaking and pictures were fine.

I did have an issue mounting the Inon wide angle lense (Inon UWL-H100 Type 1 M67) in that the lense protruded too much to make the threads make contact. I got round this with 67mm spacer off ebay.

I originally started with a PMLA-EP01, but this can't hold the weight of the Inon WE lense and dome, it wasn't secure. Ok with the single macro lense.

Having played with this set-up for a while, I think I might change it... screwing and unscrewing lenses underwater is a pain, I wish I had bought the swing adapter they do... My gut feel is that if I want a WA lense I'm going to have to invest in a dome sometime ( AOI seem reasonable).

The weight of the Inon glass WA lense and dome made the rig very long and front heavy, I didn't like it.

John - Thank you for the reply! I was seriously considering working with an internal lens + dome port. However it's really pricey.
Besides - Since I live in Israel and most of our dives are in the bay of Eilat/Aqaba there are not so many large animals for a dedicated lens. It's only for the random encounter.
And another plus - I use the 12-50 M.Zuiko. This lens is fixed (all mechanism is internal) so the space between the lens and the wet lens is fixed. Hopefully it will work out for me.

In the worst case scenario, I'll lose the 73 USD (+shipping) of this toy :-\

BTW Please notice there is a difference between the Inon UWL-H100 Type 1 and the Type 2! I understood the Type 2 is the one for 67mm threading. Dunno. I'll have to see for myself :-\

giffenk - Thank you very much as well for the reply. Unfortunately, wide angle lenses are very heavy and the flip usually won't hold it's weigh :-\
