We are traveling to Australia & PNG in a month or so. 99% of my equipment has 110v/240v chargers. But ONE piece of equipment has a power brick that only supports 110v. I have been researching power converters, but most of them say not to use for battery charging. Can anyone tell me what power converters they have successfully used in Australia/PNG? Or other areas like that.

Thank you,
Doug

I just picked one up for my trip to Thailand. Go to Radio Shack and get the "Foreign Travel Voltage Converter" PN: 273-1426. I think it cost me something like $25.00.

According to the instructions it provides a true sine wave output.

If it's a fairly low wattage item (i.e. electric shaver), many if not most Aussie hotels have special outlets in the bathrooms that accept US plugs and also downconvert the voltage to 110.

Look for the inverters that say they can be used for "continuous use". This is what you need for charging batteries. They can be had for around 25.00 for 200 w.
