I am a little "cheezed" about certain individuals on this board who are regularly negative / brutal / unhelpful to brand new divers and or kids.

It seems to be the same individuals, always posting on-off horrible situations, or irrelevant negativities about learning to dive, how bad new divers are, etc. etc.

This type of response is totally unnecessary, and certainly does not illicit new divers to feel good about their accomplishments, or to ask more questions. And it definately does nothing for this board.

There's a difference between cautioning someone, and bringing up horror stories. And if you know you're posting to a child, don't squash their post. If you're scared of diving that much, don't dive, and if you need to vent, pick on someone your own size.

Lets try and make our responses somewhat appropriate to the individual.

If you are talking about what happened to fishfreak44, I agree. It was pretty harsh and off topic about the nurse sharks.

I think it is important for us to check peoples profiles sometimes before we wade right in!

It wouldn't be in whine and cheeze then...and coming from SB staff, I sure hope that was said in sarcasm, or shall I point out to you the 11 year old whose post was decimated?

Sure you can't be part of the solution, instead?

Hey, there is nothing wrong with petting nurse sharks....if they dont like it then they will bite your arm and then you will learn.

Opiniongirl, it is very easy to post criticism on an internet discussion board...just remember that 99% of the people who do it would not even come close to saying anything to your face. :)

It is a little strange (and with an element of double standards) that the PG-13 rule is so rigidly enforced to protect the kids but no one seems to care how harshly they are otherwise sometimes treated.

No pornography, violence or swearing on here. Same rating isn't needed. So, you would suggest an age limit on users. No one under 13 can post? :)

This, too, has been discussed. I find some language and opinions on this board too virulent and will not let my 14 year-old read it.

My thoughts exactly.
