Anyone know what the default (factory setting) interstage pressure of the Xstream Dive first stage might be? I've been told around 125. I wanted to run my Jetstreams off of one. Appreciate the time in response.

The Xstream IP and the Jetstream IP is the same or very close, I dont have my service manual near me, but I believe its 140-145 for them. Yes, you can use a Jetstream on an Xstream first stage.

Yep, 145 is the right answer. The Xstream is a mini-version of the Jetstream.
I take it you have one of the newer multiport/megaport models that has the adjustable 1st stage?
If there's only 1 HP port, you'll be out of luck if you want to tweak the IP.

Thanks for the reply. I could have sworn the catalog specified 123 on the xstream first. If this is the case, I assumed the Jets would not work as well. I also assumed the xstream first to be a more robust design...and with the newer Dive model, I could tweak the interstage a little...that is unless you guys think the jets would work fine on the lower IP.

appreciate your help.

If you've seen the cutaway view of the Xstream 1st stage, you'll want an 8x10 to sit on the mantle. http://www.dyk-brand.se/images/xstream1.jpg
The first models weren't adjustable, being "pre-set" as it were. Due to the large number of requests for a design with more ports & the ability to have the IP tweaked, Poseidon obliged & came out with the multi-port model (5 lp, 2 hp). They even include an allen wrench in the bag so folks can tweak away to their heart's content.

There are only 2 drawbacks to the new 1st; they need to be worked on in a very clean environment, and their thermodynamic "anti-freeze" design limits their use to water above freezing.

Sounds like you have some experience with both...and from your experience, would you say I should just stick with my jetstream firsts, or do I truly gain advantages by moving to the new firsts...such as simpler to work on, better reliability, etc.?

Again,
thanks for the info.

Hello LUBOLD8431 and Bob3,

.....quick follow up question......I've got 6 Jets, and am considering converting a couple of them into Xstream 1sts/Jet 2nds......I like the improved design of the 1st (not that I've had any problems with the Jet 1sts) but prefer the design of the Jet 2nds ( I prefer their more 'obvious' purge button, and the fact that they have a 'detune' switch ).

Can you advise me on the price/availibility of the 'bare' Xstream 1st's ( 5 LP/2 HP port version) ?

Thanks,

Karl

Heck, I think the Xstream 1sts are so cool I'd like to get a couple of the "sawed-in-half" display pieces & use 'em for earrings. :D My ears are too small though.
The new ones are more intolerant towards dirty/dusty conditions in the shop if they're being worked on. They have a good "antifreeze" design as long as the water temps are above freezing. The critters can go without "normal" annual servicing though, I can't recall what the frequency is but the design is just so sweet ~ there are less moving parts to wear out. Not to mention that ball HP "needle".
I'd keep some of the "old" designs around with antifreeze cups just in case you'd find yourself needing to jump into 28° water.
Can you advise me on the price/availibility of the 'bare' Xstream 1st's ( 5 LP/2 HP port version) ?
I don't have a pricelist handy, I can PM you the info in a bit.
As usual, you take a hit when getting the pieces instead of a whole reg.

Hi Bob3,

....sure, just let me know the price when you have the time. I'm thinking about converting one of my 2 'cave' sets over to Xstream 1st's/Jet 2nd's and would like to know how financially feasible it would be.
