Hello Everyone!

I am new to Scuba Diving, and through my research and experimentation I have found that I am very fond of Poseidon regulators, I like the way they breathe, I like thier reliability, and design.

My question is about which Poseidon is right for me, and if money is no option which Poseidon Reg is the best overall.

I am looking into the; Poseidon XStream Dive 90, XStream Deep, XStream Deep 90, XStream Dive Octo, XStream Duration, XStream Duration 90, XStream Deco.

As far as I know there are only 2 differences in the 1st stages of all the regs listed, being one has a 90 degree bend, and one does not (I already know how they work). Can anyone explain the practical difference clearly to me, pros and cons? (Not the specs, I want to know how one will benifit over the other if any in a practical situation)

The second question I have is, if money is no option would it not be accurate to say that purchasing the most highly capable reg (even if it is more capable than what I need right now) would be the best idea?

My thoughts lead me to believe that purchasing the XStream Deep/90 Reg, would suit any diving situation I could ever get into, both recreational to 15m, and technical to 100m , is this correct? Or would I be better to go with the XStream Duration/90?

If anyone has any helpful insight to this query I would be most appreciative, and if there is anything else you think beneficial to me please feel free to mention so.

thank you all kindly, and happy diving.

Barry

The Deep 90 and Duration 90 are the same reg, the only difference is the Duration is 100% O2 clean and the Deep is not. If you are just recreational right now, it doesn't matter, and if you go tech in the future and need an O2 clean reg, you can just O2 clean whichever one you own, so if it is between these 2 regs, I would choose the more affordable one.

You can't go wrong with any of them. I got I think the duration 90 (green ones). Great choice no matter which one you pick.

They have been 300+ feet deep - no problem. I use jetstreams for 12 years before the xtremes came out. Now I have several of both. Kids & Deco set-ups - Jetstreams. Primary & backup - xtremes.

Have fun - Dive friendly.

Poseidon makes good regs, no doubt about it. One thing to keep in mind, however, is that just about everything Poseidon uses is propietary. When a hose goes bad, you gotta get another Poseidon hose. Most aftermarket mouthpieces don't fit Poseidons, for example.

You won't be disappointed if you go with Poseidon. They move a LOT of air! I just want you to be aware that because they use propietary parts that maintaining them will be more expensive than other brands.

And that's exactly why I sold mine.
