I know that there has been some heated discussion on the Poseidon BeSea, but I was looking at their website today and I saw this...
tp_XXL.jpg

The Platform is like nothing seen before. From the ergonomically shaped back plate, designed to distribute the weight evenly to the "one size fits all" harness adjustable through a single movement to the quick-connect bladder and tank holder.

When we discussed the design criteria prior to the development of the Platform a couple of issues became clear;

* One size fits almost everyone, difficult to do but appreciated by the dive charter that does not have to carry stock in different sizes or the parent which can share his Platform with the children.
* A simple and reliable harness. Based on single 50 mm polyester webbing routed from behind your back, over your shoulders, folds around your hip and adjusts on our unique belly buckle. It cannot be much simpler then that. With enough D-rings to satisfy most divers and easy to add more should you want to. With our quick release buckle just pull the band and the whole harness tight to fit you. No fuss, the Poseidon way...
* A series of wings to suit your needs. Manufactured in durable material in any size for the tropical diver as well as the cold water diver with double tanks. From 25 to 40 kg lift. And fitted to the Platform with quick connection.
* A quick mounting system for your tank. Built to last in stainless steel. Superior for the dive charter that can switch tanks with a single grip. A dream for the diver with his own tank and good for the traveling diver. And in the future other things than your open circuit tank will fit...
* Material that lasts. Built in stainless steel and abs plastics the Platform is designed to last and to be simple to maintain, for as long as you dive and fit our future upgrades.
* Built to carry future accessories. We have a long list of exciting technology that will be based on the Platform. Make sure you sign up for the newsletter so as not to miss our releases.

Manufactured in advanced materials to withstand all possible environments and use the Platform is built to last. For the beginner, the dive charter or the advanced diver. It may not conform to the latest in fancy colours and fashion but it does its job. Less is more, quality and ingenuity, the Poseidon way.

I did some searching here and elsewhere and I can't seem to find out anything much about it but it looks pretty cool and was wondering if anyone knew anything about it.

It looks cool. Probally pricey. Where are all the holes though, for a wing/tanks, Argon bottle and a canister light?

Any news about this? I keep on looking at their website and there are no changes. They have been "Introducing" this for a while and still no availability dates...

Dyklas:
The platform is available in my local divestore here in Sweden.

Really?? How much is it going for? I can't even find it on Poseidon's website!

Appreciate the info, thanks!

At the moment they only have a demo ex. but
will get a shipment in two weeks. Some of these will also
be used as course/rental equpment.
The Platform will cost about 5500 SEK ($800).

OMG!!! :11: Just for the harness or a complete system? Geez. Thats way more than what the BeSea50 complete units are going for including wing and all!

Wow...some school it must be if that's what they are offering for class equipment!

Thanks for checking by the way! ;)

This is Sweden :), everything is expensive here. 5500 SEK includes 25% taxes and this is for a complete system (Harness and wing).
Its actually about the same price as for the Dive Rites Transpack or any other similiar BCD.

Dyklas,

Thanks once again for the clarification! I have just met up some old friends from 3 years ago who now live in Sweden (Canadian with a beautiful Swedish wife). They confirm how expensive (and good) life there can be. Your government really looks after their citizens!

In any case, this is good news to me....I am really new to diving and hope to move soon to a BP/W and was looking forward to trying the Platforms. Will rent a BP/W setup in Sharm El Sheik next week to get a feel for it.....if all goes well, I may order one of these....(not from Sweden though! No offence!)

I dive the Platform, I think it is pretty brilliant. If only Poseidon would get the weight system and extra pockets ready some day...

Until then, the DUI weight pocket system/harness works a treat with it - probably sticking with it now.

Best reagrds,
Jonas
