its a matter of personal preference. as far as i know the only drawback to having a poseidon rig is availability of servicing and expensive spare parts. also the dir folk say its not dir but who cares right? anyway i for one have used the jetstream and a xtreme and they are the best darn regs i have ever owned.

Plus: Delivers an unbelievable amount of gas at any depth.

Negative: Hit the purge button and it will practically blow your head off, requires a special hose ($$), and it is hard to find someone to service them sometimes.

It's kind of like owning a Jaguar. They are great, but the maintenance can be a pain. Just my $.02 and worth what you paid for it.

its a good thing the poseidon service center is 5 mins away from my office:)

Poseidon spare part is so expensive as I know the only one dive store selling in HK. servicing is the mean concern.

They breathe nice and a little different.

I have a jetstream and a cyclon 5000.

I just paid $65.00 for a new hose on my jetstream-ouch!

Are they reliable-yes.

Are other regulators reliable-yes.

Are the Poseidons expensive-yes.

Are other regulators as expensive-mostly no.

I used an Aqualung Calypso in Bora Bora recently and I thought "These are damn good regulators"...and those things are cheap.

Well, Bora Bora isnt Minneapolis, Minnesota(at least from what I can tell..the people are the tanner, darker haired Norweigens perhaps). The Poseidon regs are perfect for cold water...that's their strength. Thats why I bought the Poseidons.

I also have an Apeks TX50 and it's great too...never any freeze up problems.

Soooo....they are good, but if I needed to save money(which I don't) then I would have bought a less prestigious reg and saved the money on a dry suit or even a trip....or a case of beer for post dive festivities!

I just bought a Jetstream reg but haven't used it yet. I want to know if the side exhaust valve efectivelly prevents bubbles from blocking view or, in the contrary, it even make it worse. Thanks!
