As well as my main two USD regs I have just picked up a Poseidon Jetstream + Cyclon Occy. Yes I know they have weird threads and stuff but I needed something that wasnt 'handed' to setup for twin tanks and that seems to limit the choice to Poseidon or Oceanic as far as I know? Anyway got the Poseidon rig ( serviced) at a good price and it breathes well.

(side issue: do Oceanic/Poseidon have exclusive patents on the side-valve design of 2nd stage - if so how come *both* of them make them (ie not only one has the patent) but no one else? I would have thought other tech manufacturers (apeks) would make something similar). .......anyone in the industry know the history....

So I am wanting to setup the Poseidon for twins. Ideally I would like to use a 2m hose and route under-arm but that means I need a swivel at the jetstream end? Doesnt seem to be such a beast. Has anyone setup/used a Jetstream in this config? Did you manage to route under arm without a swivel?

Hi Al. Apeks produced a "side exhaust" second stage and had it on the market for a while. I honestly do not know the years. They did continue to produce it for Zeagle, marketed by that company as a Sentinel (sp), right up until about 2002. Anyway, thought you might like this little bit of info. Thanks.

With the 7 foot (2 metre) hose, you dont need a swivel or elbow. Have you used a 7 foot hose in the past? If so, how did you route it? With my long hose I route it down the right hand side, under my arm, hooked under my waist mounted cutter, up across my chest, around the back of my head and in my mouth. There is enough hose to not need a swivel. One more thing, I do think Poseidon are great regs, but why exactly do you need a non "handed" reg for doubles?

Thanks for the quick reply. I cant believe I'm sitting in Australia getting replies in near real-time from Canada :) It's warmer here I expect?
I use twins for cave diving. Until now I have been using my two USD consehlf regs but have to route both over the same shoulder as otherwise the 2nd stage for one of them is upside down. Also, would mean I would have to pass to a buddy in an emergency the right way up. Just one extra complication in a cave.
99.9% of my cave diving buddies use either Poseidon or Oceanic simply because you have have a 2nd stage coming over (under) each shoulder and it doesnt matter which one either diver grabs hold of. They also tend to use elbows so the hose routes ok.
I havent used a 7 foot host yet; they cost a fortune here, especially if you want a special Poseidon one, so I was trying to make sure the rig would work before I shelled out the $$$.
I can see a 57" on ebay right now but I suspect that will be too short :(
Pleased to hear you manage to use a 7" in underarm without a swivel - I might risk the $$ and give it a try.
BTW Why do you go round the back of your head before in your mouth?

I actually had a Poseidon from my left shoulder, but sold it because I preferred the preformance out of my Zeagle, and decided to have matching Zeagle's for my doubles. Anyway I route them now both over my right shoulder, the one on a necklace around my neck, and the other one on the long hose. I find with the long hose that it doesn't really matter much whether it's a right "handed" reg or a poseidon/oceanic, simply because of the amount of hose you have to work with, it doesn't bind up like the short hose. I'd say if all your buddies use Oceanics/Poseidons, then having matching equipment is a good idea, but I do think the swivel isn't totally necessary, get a 7 foot hose for the Poseidon and just practice with it. I go around the back of my head because it takes up the slack, and then the hose comes from the right, like a standard reg. Plus when it comes to air sharing, all I have to do is take the reg out of my mouth, dip my head, and the reg is loose, give it a quick flip from under the cutter, and its all out. Plus it's easy to put back in place that way after an air sharing drill or emergency. I also own 2 Oceanic Omegas, with swivels, that I use for my slung bottles, I definetly find the swivel useful there. Oh and as for the weather, I imagine it is a bit nicer there right now. My buddy just flew to Australia for 5 weeks and I'm pretty damn jealous. We've been really lucky tho, I haven't seen a snow flake at all this month when normally we're covered in it by now. So no complaints there ;)

I have not got one YET... but I found it in the current manta catalog. I dive the extreme regs and I also want to route my backup under my arm... Primary on a 7ft hose backup on a necklace and as soon as I get a swivel it should be better streamlined under the arm.
