Hi Guys,

Buying some gear right now and trying to pick out of the Poseidon 1st stages and was wondering if someone could clear up the differences. They seem to have 3 groups and variations with in each but limited info on their site.

Poseidon 1st Stages
---Cyklon
---Jetstream
---Xstreme

I am not sure what the difference between Cyklon and Jetstream is. The Xstream series seems to be approved for nitrox and oxygen while the other two aren't so I am leaning towards that one (unless that comes at a cost of something else I am unaware of). But with in the Xstream line I am not sure whether to get the Xstream Deep of Xstream Duration. And then the 5/8 or the M26 connection? Which is don't fully understand because the connection on their 2nd stages is 9/16 so are they talking about the din connection, if so I thought that was standard?

So if someone could shine some light on this I would really appreciate it. I dive cold water (CA, Monterey) and warm water (VA tropics). I don't dive with nitrox or deco on oxygen currently but plan to in the future and I am working toward a tech cert.

Thanks! :confined:

In general:
Cyclon is the "older" model, XStream the latest one. The JetStream is/was (?) available with the Cyclon 1st stage in the old version. The newer JetStream model "MK III" has the same 1st stage like the XStream.
The latest 1st stage for XStream or JetStream MKIII is an improved one compared to the Cyclon's.

In the past there were more different types of the XStream 1st. But now they all are combined to the two models "Deep" and "Duration".
The "Deep" is approved for normal air (21% O2) and Trimix. The "Duration" is approved for Oxygen up to 100%. G 5/8 and M26 are the available DIN connectors. G 5/8 ist the normal DIN connector. M26 is the (official) connector for Oxygene use in Europe. Because here all gases with more than 21% of Oxygene have (officially) to be treated like 100% Oxygene. And for this, you have to us the M26 connectors (officially).

Thanks for clearing that up for me guys!

What do you think about poseidon vs apeks regulators?

Myself, I'd take a Poseidon over anything else out there . . . And on the Jetstream/Odin vs. Cyklon, they were using the same 1st for quite a while (well the Cyklon 5000 at least) and the newer reg got a new 1st. The older Cyklon (the "Cyklon 300") was the original, and while it is still a great performer, that 1st was unbalanced, to the IP tended to wander throughout a dive.

Do youself a favor and go for the Apeks...................

Care to elaborate?
