Port Douglas before and after Osprey Reef

I ll be on the undersea explorer the last week of march ( 21 to 26 ) and i have one day in Port Douglas and one night in Cairns before coming back to europe.

I need some help for the hotel ( Hot water/ no roach are good enough for me ). And what can i do around port douglas Anything to visit?


By the way, every advise about the undersea is welcome

Im 200 + dives, rescue +deep and nitrox cerified
Dove Sipadan/ Maldives/ Similan /cozumel/Palau/bunaken / indonesia/ philippines etcetc.

Hi,

You'll love undersea - best liveaboard up there in my opinion. the crew mix with the passengers, we'd often all sit around with a few drinks and cards at night. And then dive all day. What more could you want really!

On the first night on my trip, most of the guests after dropping bags off etc all went back out to dinner together. The iron bar is no doubt where you'll end up (we werent' leaving port till late so squeezed in some social time beforehand)

Also - take drinks on board they allow it - but if beer take cans.

At the end of the trip, same thing most of the passengers and most of the crew too all met up for at the Courthouse to have an end of trip celebration.

Accomm - try wotif.com.au you can often get some last minute deals. But stay in walking distance of the mainstreet. Haven't stayed at macrossan so not sure. Great location though.

and Diving - do every dive its worth it!! Loads of sharks. Even a manta ray if you're lucky.

Hi

The Courthouse is a good option.

Remember Port is very expensive and there are no fast food places so to speak of, eg Mcdonalds, KFC.
It also, in my opinion, can get a little boring too after dinner as there isnt a lot to do.
Watch for the remanets of nighttime cane toad hockey. Trust me when you get there you will know.
No night time walks away from the main centre.

Cairns is a great place, love it. If you are there for just an evening then grab dinner at one of the restaurants along the water front, there is the night markets as well.

any way, th boat arrive late in the afternoon, so the first night, i have to stay there. ill find something not to expensive dowtown. then , i have one day to spend: i can spend half of it to have a look at Mossman gorge an d then go to cairns for my last night before departure and have a look at both..

The Hides Hotel is basically in the middle of town and close, about a block or so, from the water front etc.
