My wife bought me an Olympus Tough waterproof point-and-shoot camera for my birthday, to use while snorkeling and at the beach. We were in Turks and Caicos with some friends last week, and two of them did a discover diving class at the excellent shore dive by the Coral Garden resort. I tagged along and brought the camera, since it is waterproof to 50 feet. We never went below 20 feet, although this was the first dive I have ever done where the MOD was determined by my camera!

In any case, if you are doing shallow diving and you want something cheap, light and easy to carry along for pretty good video and nice strobe closeup photos, consider one of these.
