I was wondering if I should wear anything under my BC for pool work? Its going to be an all day event . What about a rash guard or t shirt?

Are you sure that you won't be wearing a wetsuit for your pool work?

My shop's pool gets chilly after about 30 minutes in the water; therefore, everyone is provided a 3mm wetsuit. If the water is warm enough to tolerate for a while, then a T-shirt would be fine. I have been diving a few times in just the BC and BC/T-shirt combo. I like the T-shirt feel a little better. If you have a rash-guard go for that, but I wouldn't buy one just for the class.

You can buy a knockoff of an UnderArmour compression shirt at Wal-Mart for about $8...works great in the pool. Doesn't warm you, but it keeps the rash down--and it's cheap!!!

I use a 3mm shortie in the pool...works great, and adds a little warmth for the really long sessions.

I use a 2mm shorty when I DM at the pool but students get cold even in 3mm full suits after 2 hours.

Cheers.

I guess it'd depend a lot on the pool. Mine was heated, so I just wore a cotton T-shirt under the BC and a swim suit. The Underarmor type would be better. Ask your Inst what s/he wears in the pool...? :D

In my pool work, we used 7mm suits as our instructor wanted to figure out our proper buoyancy for when we went out into the ocean for our checkout dives. The ocean needs a 7 mm suit easy (Pacific Ocean in CA), so it helped us get ready for the chilly waters.

I just ordered a 2mm shorty, Thanks guys.
