My wife and I had our first baby this past January. We both hold AOW and Nitrox cards and love to dive. Our last trip was Turks and Caicos in Sept '09.

I promised her that we would not take a vacation for one year from January so the only place I'll be diving any time soon is our backyard pool. It is 12feet at the deep end.

I am hoping my colleagues here on SB could suggest a number of excersises we could do to try to maintain basic skills during our absence from OW diving.

Thanks all!
Jeff

You could practice your safety stops.

buoyancy in 12 ft horizontal hovering, lift bag / smb deployment. :D

i have no idea what you're near, but the 'dive ny' area of the board is really active & would likely know of some quarries or other inexpensive places to go for the day, and have people to be buddies so someone would be with the baby while you took turns diving.

i was basically dry the first year or so after my baby. i read a *lot* of sb threads & it passed reasonably quickly...it's the right thing to do. you & she will get your life back eventually! :)
