None of the above... I'd buy the Apeks... but between the three I like the Aqualung (seeing as it's basically an apeks anyway)

Good Luck :D

If I had to chouse between the two I would chouse the Scubapro Mk25/G250HP. All around great regulator. And if your looking at the S600 second stage from Scubapro it has basically the same internal parts as the G250HP. The G250HP is just a little bigger and $50.00 cheeper. I think I payed around $455.00 for my Mk25/G250HP about a month ago. Also look at Apeks regulators. Sorry haven't had experiance with Auqalung.

Tekkie :bonk:

I don't know the Legend LX so well. I like the Titan 1st stage. All 3 reg sets we own are US Divers.

Is there a way you can borrow/rent these regulators to try them? That is the only true way to determine which one suits you the best. I haven't tried these regulators, although my wife has the MK25/S600 and she likes it, so I can not give much input. I can tell you that the MK25/S600 breaths great, but that's not the comparative (relative to those listed) statement that you seem to be looking for.

Hi

I have an Aqualung Legend and love it, although thats because it uses standard hoses and the first stage is sealed because we dive in colder water in the UK. It has also got some Apeks technology in it and so that sold it for me.

My girlfriend has a S600 and thats just as good to breath, in fact out of the water the S600 is lighter but in the water theres no difference.

However the Scubapro second stage you mention can be taken apart and fixed underwater which is why it is recommended for cave divers etc. The performance is comparable to the S600 so I'm told.

The first stage (MK25) is probably the best piston design for cold water. In a recent review in Dive magazine the mk25 scored highly after being purged for over a minute in cold water without freeflowing (the s600 attached to it had a slight freeflow but then stopped after a few seconds)

Hope that helps

alright ill have to try them both i guess.. although from your input it seems they are both great regs.. money will also be a concern though...

Another suggestion for the box. If money is a concern take a look at the Aqualung Titan mentioned by groundhog. You probably would not notice any difference in performance compared to the more costly regs. I know you don't want anything 'cheapy'. However, the Titan first stage is extremely high performance and bulletproof. The second stages that are presently offered with this reg are the downstream light weight plastic types similar to those used on the high end models.

Don't worry about claims that one model breaths easier than the other. Lakemount, all of these modern regulators, including the modestly priced Titan, are so easy breathing and generally high performance that the average diver would not know the difference. It takes a sophisticated test setup to discern these differences but any of the above are dependable and deliver plenty of air to 300 feet. You should look for a well known brand which is comfortable and reliable. It should be dry breathing, light second stage (in water), flexible hose, multiple LP, HP connections, abundant service facilities, good reputation. Any of the above meet these criteria.

The Mk25/G250 is an outstanding setup. I have a Mk25/G250 and a Mk25/S600 and cannot tell any difference between the two. They actually use the same annual service kit, they are basically the same.

Both reg are amazing breathers, I can't imagine anything breathing better. Very reliable, easy to service and extremely durable. Very, very nice regs. I highly recommend either.

I have the previous model MK20/G250. It is great. Plus Scubapro regs can be serviced almost anywhere if you need it.
