From: Search for missing diver resumes - The Irish Times - Tue, Sep 06, 2011
A search resumed today for a Polish diver who went missing yesterday while exploring a cave near Gort, Co Galway.

The man, who is in his 30s, entered the Pollonora cave at 3pm yesterday but failed to emerge as expected at 9.30pm.

The Irish Coast Guard described the man as very experienced and said he had enough oxygen to last six hours.

A friend of the man and another experienced diver conducted a search of the cave last night for two hours but found nothing. The missing man was diving alone but the alarm was raised by two colleagues waiting for him on the surface.

The cave is thought to be 52 metres deep and extensively flooded.

Connor McGrath of the Irish Cave Rescue Organisation said only very experienced divers can operate at such depths. “From our point of view this is very difficult,” he said. “As time is passing, we are more and more concerned.”

Regretfully body is found:
"The body of a cave diver who went missing in an underwater cave in Co Galway has been found.

Artur Kozlowski, a Polish man in his 30s, failed to resurface after diving in caves near Kiltartan, north of Gort.

A search operation had been ongoing since lunchtime today.

A spokesperson for the Irish Cave Rescue Organisation said that Mr Kozlowski's body was located and secured at the known limit of the cave, at a distance of 850 metres from the entrance and at a depth underwater of 52 metres.

A plan to recover the body is being formulated by the ICRO.

Mr Kozlowski was an experienced diver.

It is understood he went diving in the Pollonora cave at 3pm yesterday afternoon and had enough oxygen to last until 9.30pm last night.

The search began when he did not resurface and another experienced diver went into the caves at 11pm."
