We were on Bonaire and some heard sirens. I don't know if the officer was alone when responding to this call or not, but I am guessing there will be some police procedural changes. We were shocked the next morning on hearing the news! I read that the
Dutch have sent an investigative team to aid local police and I hope to hear of arrests soon!

The current edition of the Bonaire Reporter has more info--including 2 officers responded to a home invasion in response to the housekeeper's call for help. A family with a young son were victims of criminals demanding cash and valuables. The 2 officers went to front and back of the house. The officers were not wearing vests. More in the Reporter.

Five men were arrested on Bonaire on Tuesday on suspicion of involvement in the murder of Dutch cop Ferry Bakx. The police also searched the home in which the men were arrested, ANP reports.

The Bonaire Reporter's Facebook page is reporting that "The five very fit men had injuries consistent with what would have occurred during their escape and firefight with the policeman they killed. The men arrested appeared to be from South America."
