Hey everyone!!
I'm hosting a monthly poker night tonight in my garage and I need some tips. I have never played Texas Holdem before, does anyone have any hints, tricks, stratagies for this game? I'm mainly a go-fish/Uno person and I have never played a real poker game before.

Thanks!!

LOL....... eeeh, not such a good idea..

Probably the best advice is to not pretend that you know what you are doing when you really don't. Most people are willing to help you out at the table (just don't expect them to help you win!).
Another thing - unless you've sat at the table for a while, or unless you really know the people you are playing with, don't bluff if you don't have anything. It can turn out to be a really embarrasing and expensive mistake to make. (my boyfriend doesn't call me 8 4 off suit for nothing)

Other than that - gads, the volumes of advice is endless! You just have to play to figure out what it is that you need help with.

Good luck!

You got to know when to hold em...
Know when to fold them...
Know when to walk away,
know when to run....

Seriously though the hand usually starts with each player getting to cards, the person to the immediate left of the dealer makes a mandatory bet called the small blind, the player next to him/her makes a mandatory bet called a big blind. The rest of the players then have the option of folding(most likely), calling, or raising. Once the betting phase is done 3 cards are drawn for the table to see, you will make your best hand with these 5 cards. After another round of betting a 4th card is drawn, then a round of betting then a fifth. As in any poker game the person with the best 5 card hand wins.

Some tips, if you have an ace and anything call, a pair raise, a two hand flush, call, a two hand straight call as well.

Hope that helps

Dave

If someone at the table leans forward, means they have a good hand, if they lean back they have a bad hand....apparantly - according to some pro poker player...
