Hi Guys,

I have a question about connecting an olympus camera to the usb port of a computer.

I have done it many times without a problem, connected the camera to the PC an action box pops up asking what I want to do (view photos, move photos etc) only it has suddenly stopped doing this. The camera still shows as a removable device and I can access it through my computer, what I want to know is how can I get the choose action box to pop up again when I connect the camera.

I have right clicked on the removable device and looked under the autoplay tab, "prompt me each time to take action" is selected.

I am using Windows XP Home.

Cheers
Adam

That is so strange, Adam, because the same thing happened to me... I just figured it was some XP issue ( I have XP Pro)...

I won't be surprized if it isn't XP, I HATE XP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! May have to reinstall the software.

I've had this happen too on my Canon. I believe it is an issue with Windows XP.

I worked around it by plugging in and turning on the camera. With the camera connected, open up Control Panel, then open "Scanners and Cameras". I believe there is some way in there to set it to let you choose what to do when the camera is connected. (I'm at work without my camera, so mine just comes up empty here, so I'm going from memory).

If you still haven't gotten it to work by this evening, I'll try it at home with my camera.

Is the camera in "picture viewing" mode when you connect?

Yes, it is for me...

I use XP Pro and I've never had that message box pop up. I just look in the file manage under My Computer to find the F: removeable drive.
