The early Mk 15's had a seat retainer that incorporated an externally adjustable intermediate pressure feature, similar to what was ultimately done with the Mk25. In 1995 shortly after the Mk 15 was introduced, the seat retainers were found to be inadequate through the full Mk 15 pressure range to 4350 psi. Consequently the old seat retainers with the adjustment feature were restricted to a service pressure of 3000 psi rather than 4350 psi.
The retrofit kit included a new seat retainer and a different mainspring as well as a few other parts and these kits were to be installed under warranty at the next annual service on any Mk 15's that came in. Since it was a free upgrade, it's pretty rare to still find an unmodified Mk 15 kicking around.
The old seat retainer is beveled and incorporates a hex head adjustment screw, so if the back (the part on the other end of the reg from the the swivel cap) of your Mk 15 is flat with no bevel in the retainer and no place to stick an allen wrench, it has been upgraded.
