Hello everybody, I´m new in the forum, so first of all introduce me.

I´m from South of Spain (Málaga) and I´m professional diver and PADI Divemaster. I´ll go to Curaçao on December with my family, and we would like to know:

1-. which are the best place for dive in Curaçao?

2.- Which places do you suggest me for dive close to my residence?

I´ll be in Curaçao for 7 days, and I´ll stay in Blue bay, without car, although i don´t care to move some kilometers to the site.

thank you and regards from Spain

Blue bay has a nice house reef, so you best start there with diving. Go to the right for a steep wall although this is at quite a distance. But if you are able to make a 1 hour dive you should be able to have a good look at it. Also to the left is a good option.

Other good places nearby:
Slangenbaai (Snake bay); right side as well as left side is good diving
Vaersenbay has a nice pontoon between 20 and 35 meters; left side; farther to the left there are car wrecks from the fifthies, but that is a deep dive. If you want to do that go to the left at the surface till the large buoy and descend there. From the car wrecks it is a nice dive along the reef back to the entrance

Have fun. Check my websites in the signature for more information.

We really liked Varsenbaai also. In 2007 there were a pair of seahorses just up from the main mooring ball, coming back in there were turtles feeding on seagrass in 6' of water and on a 2nd dive about 100 squid slowly swam past us - around 20' near the dock.

Slightly farther west than Varsenbaai - Habitat's house reef (Nos Kas) was a good dive. And Porto Mari nearby has a double reef structure. We dove both - went back to Habitat twice.

The best dive we did was Playa Kalki/Alice in Wonderland. Both directions are different. But it's all the way in Westpunt - the far west end of Curacao. All the sites I've mentioned have on site dive shops so you won't have to haul tanks/weights.

Once we saw a local bus out west - maybe around Sint Wilbrodrus (sp) - not sure how they are about bringing gear on it. Or how far west it goes.

Thanks for the replies, could you tell me approximate price of each dive? I'll take only minor equipment (mask, snorkel, fins), so I would have to rent the heavy equipment.

We stayed at the Hilton in May and dove with Ocean Encounters, which has several locations in Curacao. Top notch dive operation. Didn't have a bad dive all week! Ocean was a little rough traveling south, though, so bring motion-sickness medicine if you are prone to sickness and plan to boat dive. We liked the Mushroom Forest for it's unique formations. Only really big creature we saw was a turtle that lived at The Hilton's reef. At Director's Bay saw 5 spotted eels on one dive. Seldom Reef has some great coral, too.

If your family doesn't all dive, or you want something else to do, we had a great time riding the Fun Bugs. Also enjoyed the Ostrich Farm and Hato Caves. We only rented a car for one day and saw the Ostrichs, cave, and a quick tour around the island, The Fun Bugs people picked us up at the hotel.
