Hello all.

Just wondering if anyone has updates on PLG's construction. We have narrowed the hotel options down to Plaza Las Glorias and Hotel Cozumel. If PLG is REALLY looking like it will be open in May we will hold off and reserve rooms with them. (We understand they will have new management and will be AI... right?) If it looks like a slow renovation project we will book Hotel Cozumel.

If y'all are visiting Cozumel - or a local - please give us an update on their progress.

Thanks.

They are still in the "gutting" process. They are scheduled to reopen at the end of December, so I really think you'll be safe booking for May. It will be not just under new management, it will be a completely different hotel with completely different ownership and will be an all-inclusive.

Will they have a non-AI option?

THANKS for the update!

I searched the web. Couldn't find a reservations page for PLG. Do they have a website for reservations? Or do I need to book through my dive/travel person?

It is going to be a Palace resort property and here is a link to the Palace web site:

Palace Resorts are advertised as the "Ultimate All Inclusive Experience". I predict that the hotel will be fully AI and will be the most expensive, by far, of all the AI resorts on the island. Just my .02 worth.

Plaza Las Glorias will be reopening on March 15th as Cozumel Palace, all inclusive of course. This info is per Padi Travel who recently was made aware of the extension from late December to mid March.

They are STILL in the gutting process, so I knew there was no way they were going to meet the December 24th goal. Rumor has it that it will be $300+ per night, AI only. They will need to make ALOT of updates and changes to make it a $300+ a night hotel.

Thanks Matt for the update! I hadn't even heard that, but I was off the island for a couple of weeks and haven't caught up on everything yet :)
