Hi everyone,

We have a trip planned to Playa Mujeres in March. I'm looking for information on dive operators here. We both advanced open water with nitrox certs, but are also going with another couple who are novice divers.

Thanks in advance!

Good morning Pattibiggs. We are a recent diveshop operating on the north side of the island and our staff is made only by instructors. We always go out in small groups and we know our divers by their names not as "numbers". The level of the dives in Isla Mujeres it's from medium difficult to medium easy, so with a personal care to the other couple you could dive together when you want. By the way, as you know the beauty of a diving is not necessary due to the depth. We could plan for you 4 a personal planning. We have nitrox specialties one and two but it's not yet available on the island :(
you can join us with the email nautica@nabalam.com we are in the hotel Nabalam Isla Mujeres Na Balam Beach Hotel and you can add us on facebook as Balam Nautica Mexico
have a nice day and happy new year

I've been in Cancun and Isla Mujeres many times with my wife and last time we were in Cancun, so they used to come for us by the boat with tanks, weights and our complete gears on... it was simply great. Good luck !

I have dived Isla many, many times. It is great! I have always used Aqua Adventures. I have enjoyed myslef with them on all but my last trip out with them. They had a retarded know it all dive master. He really didn't know that much. He must be used to begginer divers. Anyway other than that trip Aqua has been great, but I will be back on Isla in a little over a month I think I will try this Balam operator. I have not heard of him before it may be newer.

My wife and I are considering staying on Isla Mujeres as opposed to Cancun... any suggestions on accommodations? Nice beach, quiet relaxing place? And not the highest end places, those are out of our price range.

Thanks a lot for your interest but I moved my operations from Isla Mujeres for several reasons.
First: after the operation of drag and drop the sand to fill the beachs of Cancun and Playa del Carmen that occured between october and february the dives are compromised for at least one year more. And second DON'T CHOOSE TO THE HOTEL NABALAM FOR YOUR VACATIONS. It's in a very bad state with air conditioning that doesn't work properly and horrible smell in the rooms... I lost too many customers due to the poor service compared to the high rates. So I broke my contract with the hotel. And finally they are thieve bandits... I'm moving operations from Cancun to all the Riviera Maya, including Cozumel, cenotes and wreck ship in Puerto Morelos. Very beautiful dives. So please contact me for every further information at

thank you
