I'm headed to Playa first week of June and was looking at either Fantasea Dive or Diversity Diving. Does anyone have any experience with either op? Any comments regarding safe-diving practices? Anyone else to consider? Thanks!

Playa is a nice place to dive - we will be back there in June as well. It is not on the level of Cozumel dive wise. The reef structure is not as grand but there are some nice dives. Most of the boats are small. Diving groups are reflective of the boat size. There are a number of decent shallow dives (less than 40'). We dove Tortuga last month and saw lots of turtles and tarpon. If the excitement of Playa is not enough - you can hop the ferry or charter a trip to Cozumel through most Playa dive shops. Hope this helps a little.

Been diving with Jason at Fantasea for years and before that when he worked at Abyss. First class all the way, small boats, personalized diving, etc.

I just returned from 5 days in Playa with my wife. We used Geofish and they were the best dive operation I have ever used. I have been diving in Cozumel and now Playa and I actually preferred Playa due to the amount of sea life I saw in Playa.

Here is a review I posted on tripadvisor.com

My wife and I traveled to Playa del Carmen in May for 5 days. We decided only to dive one day due to lack of time. I choose to use Geofish after reading the positive comments on both tripadvisor.com and on scubaboard.com
We could not have been more pleased. My wife and I have been diving in Hawaii, Belize, Roatan, Cozumel, and Florida yet Geofish has now set the new standard of excellence for dive operators. We met both owners Max and Morgan who were great. We had not brought all our gear since we were only diving one day and Geofish's dive kits were very nice. The cost of $69 for a two tank dive with equipment cannot be beat. One of the best parts of our dives were that Geofish only takes small groups unlike other cattle boats we saw while in Playa. Their boat is small but adequate and has a cover so you don't bake in the sun during your surface interval. We had such a great day diving we decided to do it again the next day. We dove with Morgan the first day and Max the second day. Both are excellent dive masters who gave good briefings and made sure to point everything out when under water. Our dives were better then anticipated as we had great visibility and got to see a lot more creatures then we thought we would. To sum up, we had a great experience and cannot put into words how great Geofish is to dive with.
