Made 6 dives with Pacific Coast Dive Center in Playa Flamingo. 1 dive was at "Dos Sombrero" the other 5 were at Catalina Island since the Mantas were in town and they did not disappoint. We saw 6-7 Mantas and one of the groups saw a whale shark. Water temp in the low 80's, vis at least 50'. Lots of tropical fish, moray eels and 4 other type of Ray's. PCDC does a great job with groups. We stayed at Paradise Flamingo Beach (great views, reasonable price). Rented a car from Vamos at Liberia airport. Ate at Marie's, Camperinos, Lucy's, and Pleamar. Plan on going back in July.

Thank you for the report. Is a rental car necessary to get to places to eat or the dive shop?
Thank you,
Irene

Mantas I still haven’t seen but hope to someday. Glad you had a good time. What led you to choose that destination over others? Any thoughts on how overall trip costs compare to other places, such as Cozumel, Roatan, etc...?

Costa Rica is an easy country to drive. The dive shop has pick up service in the local area, and the motel has a restaurant, but it's nice to have a car to sightsee, try different restaurants and visit the grocery store for supplies. It's cheaper to rent a car than most airport transfer fees.

It's an easy country to visit. Friendly people, different diving from the Caribbean side. Cost effective for a trip. Now it's like home.
