Just booked a last minute trip to Playa del Carmen. Wondering if anybody else will be in town Dec. 26-30? Looking for advice for dive shops that will take me from the resort area of Playacar over to Cozumel to go diving? Thanks!

I believe there are some dive ops based in PDC that will take you directly, so hopefully someone here with that knowledge will chime in.

Alternatively you can take one of the ferries over from PDC to Cozumel yourself (about a 45-ish minute ferry ride) and then go with the Cozumel dive op of your choice. One limiting factor is that most Cozumel dive boats leave for morning dives before the first ferries from PDC arrive in Cozumel (most dive boats leave at by 8:30 or before, and ferries usually arrive around 9). But there are some options -- a couple of those Cozumel dive ops that come to mind might be Jungle Divers or ScubaJuan. To look at other dive ops that may have late departures, check out the great list by @jonhall which can be found by Clicking Here.

You could do basically the same (ferry over, then Cozumel dive op) through the website below, which is a tour reseller that I have used multiple times in the past (both their PDC and Cozumel websites) and have been pleased with:

Here's a possible option although it's not offered every day - Tank Ha in PDC does a 2 tank dive trip over to Cozumel - no ferry needed !

Not too far away is a Dressel Divers - think it's the Iberostar Quetzal. I dove with a Dressel that was located farther north, but still considered PDC, a few years back. I mention them because they pickup/dropoff and do have daily (except Sunday) trips to Cozumel.

If like with me, the routine would be, get picked up at hotel, go to their dive shop for gear/pick up other divers, transfer to ferry, get picked up by boat at Coz pier and go to their dive shop located at the Iberostar (but right there in the Marine Park), do a couple of dives, we were given an AI band so were able to eat/drink before and after the dives (although there wasn't a lot of time), ride boat back to ferry, ferry back to PDC, someone waiting to take us back to Dressel and then our resort. Whew!!! All was included in a pretty low price - we actually did a package of 11 dives, which included 2 cenote dives and a night dive, just in case you're interested. If you're only diving 1 day, the biggest issue may be that you have to book in advance on their website - it's not hard, but might seem strange just to book a dive.

I'm slowly updating my spreadsheet (I'm going in January) that @Rob9876 referred to (thanks for that.) Dive times aren't really changing, but some prices are going up and some have come down. I show how far away the dive ops are from the ferry pier as well as dive times of the ops. Best to contact possible ops (I provide the link) and see when and where you would need to be.

I’ve gone with Tank Ha and had a good experience. Then I’ve also gone with a small cenote focused op, and the cenote dm had never really been to coz and couldn’t even find the wall at palancar bricks so I up having to lead that dive. Leave the cenote specialists to cenotes. My suggestion would be to use Tank Ha
