Planning to Dive Jeddah in the next few weeks.

This time last year I was there, the facilities & sites were really top notch.

I will be going back with desertseadivers.com, diving right off the edge of the hotel was easily 100 times better than the best diving spot available in the whole of Bahrain.

Is there anyone else who is looking to dive there at around the same time.

We will be a group of 3 or 4 and as you know, nightlife in Jeddah leaves alot to be desired so it would be great to get to knowing a few more people socially.

It's too late for this trip, but next time you're ready to go to Jeddah, contact the American Consulate. Not only can they give you a security update, but probably a third of the employees are divers - mostly OW and AOW. Most of the Marines are usually divers.

We'd do boat dive most weekends with Desert Sea Divers or at one of the hotel beaches - Intercontinental or Sheraton. Although both have nice wall dives, the Sheraton beach has the best facilities and diving. And there is always somebody topside who will let you buddy up with them. The only negative to Intercon and Sheraton is that they don't have boat trips staging from their beach facilities.

It's too late for me - I lived in Jeddah 2002-2004 - but I'm sure that there are still plenty of divers in the area. Some of the best diving in the world there. And there IS a social life. You just have to find someone from the consulate.
