Hi,
My girlfriend and I are planning a trip to Montego Bay in late June. We are hoping to find some good scuba diving there. We are currently looking for travel packages, along with scuba packages. Does anyone know where I can find some good prices on a air+hotel package, and also some scuba diving packages?

Also, we are currently deciding whether to bring our own equipment or not. Looking on some web sites of dive shops there, it costs 15 dollars to rent the entire set of gear per day. Would it be more worth it to rent their gear or lug all of our own (and risk possibly damaging our gear on the trip over there)?

Thanks in advance for your help,
DB

If you've got your own gear, I'd take it along. Always better to have your own stuff that you are familiar with and know is in good shape, instead of taking your chances with rental gear. Properly packed there's no reason it should get damaged, I've never had anything damaged on many trips.

Jamaica is not exactly known as a dive destination so if you've got a serious "dive trip" in mind, you may want to consider other destinations as well.

I agree. Jamaica has below average diving at best!

we got a trip to sandals 2 yrs ago farther up the island than MB. got one dive in to say we dove in jamaica but a few locals said the reefs "not very good". lots of fishing and no permanant anchoring as we could see. the DM dropped an anchor on a coral head where we were. i was not impressed but there might be a better DO and healthier reefs at another location.
