I remember something about a plane that was used in a Bond film somewhere near the Cruise ship pier. Did Wilma obliterate that?

Hi,

The only James Bond movie plane wreck that I know of is off New Providence Is. in the Bahamas--and it is a waste of time.

There is/was a plane wreck off Cozumel, but it has been just scattered junk for a long time.

However, I am not the authoritative source for such issues...

But you are spot on with this one :)

It was scattered junk before the hurricanes, now it's more scattered junk :) and has no semblance of an airplane at all.

Whew!!!!!!!:shakehead

joewr...thinking, "Let's see, if I were playing baseball, I would be batting...well, forget that!"

The plane was used in a Mexican film. I'll see if I can find the name.

Added later: Got it!

The plane was used in the filming of "Survive 11," a Mexican disaster movie (I don't know if the movie was a disaster or not). It was a forty passenger Convair that was first blown up and then sunk in 1977. When we first visited the wreck in 1991, only the wings and scattered wreckage remained recognizeable. After so many years and that ****** Wilma, there's probably very little of interest to scuba divers.

I't behind the La Ceiba hotel...shore dive. All I ever saw was a wing, we didn't go all the way out to the fuselage. If there is anything left at all now.

i like my planes...

shaken, not stirred

Yes, the plane WAS at El Cid La Ceiba. It's scraps now. I remember back when someone put a halloween skeleton inside it!!! Maybe around 1999 or 2000??? If you are desperate to see the remains, it's out very close to the "protected area floaters" in the water straight out from the walk-in steps near the volleyball beach area at the resort. Not worth the trouble to me......
