We are staying out of town (North End) during part of this yearly event. Is it a "don't miss" for the silliness of it, or is it strictly cruise ship drunken craziness to be avoided? Highlights that might be worth a look?

It depends is probably the answer.

I've been in Cayman almost 4 years and have never been ; just not my cup of tea. Some people I know love it though.

Here is the official site and some pictures so that you can make a better decision:

It's certainly not a "don't miss" event. It is essentially a large street party with a dose of drunken craziness, but YMMV. The fireworks on the 1st and last nights are worth watching.

The "dont miss" thing for me is the individual community days. Lots of food by local cooks that you just can't get at the restaurants. East End has always been especially good IMO.

Yah, I forgot about the food. The EE Community Day is definitely worth a trip around dinner time.

OK then! If there is an opportunity for "local" food we're in! Although I will say we won't be ordering any more iguana stew after our brave attempt to eat it in Bonaire.... :)
