Far too stressed out from work! Got to go to St Somehwere in a hurry.

I am looking to take two weeks vacation beginning in early March. This will NOT be a strictly diving vacation. I plan to do a couple dives every other morning or so. The rest of the time will be spent chilling (or warming as the case may be) beachside, poolside etc. Hopefully some decent shore snorkeling available too for those who don't dive and don't do boats (seasickness).

My short and completely incomplete list includes Caymans, Virgin Islands and Cozumel.

Money is not too much of an issue but certainly not five star resorts. Ok, maybe not six star resorts ;)

I do not want to travel too far because I am plumb tuckered out from business travel. A nice non-stop from Chicago of less than four hours would be ideal.

Point me and give me a quick kick and I'm outta here!:D

I should add that the ideal accomodations would be a house or condo with kitchen. I don't want to be eating out for two weeks. Even Hyperstretch could not contain me after that!

Cayman Brac. Stay at the Brac Reef Beach Resort.
Awesome diving by Reef Divers right at the resort. Plenty of snorkeling right near the docks. Huge tarpin, eels, urchins for the snorkelers.
The food is outstanding, the rooms are spacious and clean.
Large beach area.
Also plenty of non-diving activities around the island.

Their website is down for some reason, but here's a link to a site with some good information about the place.

I just got back from there two weeks ago, and absolutely loved it.

Go to Coz. Look up Christi here on the board she can tell you lots of stuff. U can get a place w/ a kitchen, dive, and do many other things, including nothing. That is exactly what I would do. Christi should be able to let you know of places that are open for business and diver friendly so you won't be spending loads of cash.

1-Go to Turks & Caicos and stay at the Sands so you can cook in or eat out as you like and dive with Caicos Adventures FiFi runs a great dive operation.
2- Go to Aruba and stay at La Quinta so you can cook in or eat out as you like and dive with Dive Aruba Clive is excellent to dive with.
2- Go to Long Island in the Exumas and stay at Stella Maris so you can cook in or out as you like and dive with Stella Maris who also run a good dive operation.

Turks doesn't offer much besides diving. I myself found Aruba, though Clive is nice, incredibly boring compared to other places. Topside, not too much to do. Don't know if you necessarily want to spend two weeks doing nothing. hey you might though.

I spent 10 days in Grand Cayman last year. Stayed in the Northern Lights Condo's. Can't say enough great things about Bo, the owner of the condo. They are on the north side, have a private beach, with a pier/bungalo on the water and far away from the crowds and tourists.

Diving with Casey @ Neptunes Divers for 6 divers max and she works around your schedule. She does 2 dives every morning and 2 in the afternoon, plus usually one night dive a week.

John

p.s. When I go to my happy place it is the hammoc on the patio in the master suite at the Northern Lights.

I would include Curacao in the choices. The easy shore diving of Bonaire with nice beaches, plenty of restaurants and other attractions. You should be able to do it in 2 legs, Chic to Miami and then on to Curacao.

Belize...Some Belikins on the beach sounds soooo good right now.

I'll be in Roatan at that time. Come house sit my place, take care of Max and dive beautiful Lost Creek Lake. Slush ski on Mt. Ashland and tour beautiful downtown White City.

Or go to Caymans, that's what I'd do.
