Gratefully all early reports are that the reefs have held up quite well.

The 'cane stripped much of the algae off the reef so things are looking a bit cleaner. Damage to hard corals has been described as minimal, but sponges in the shallows (<40ft) have been damaged. Sand has been shifted all about, reportedly opening some new swim-thrus.

The topside will take a few months to recover, but it seems the undersea world is a few steps ahead.

Cayman Brac and Little Cayman are going to be ready for business very soon. Docks are being rebuilt, but many of the resorts suffered little damage at all. Grand Cayman will take a bit longer, but as soon as the insurance adjusters have completed their work the Cayman Aggressor may be able to get back to diving. (The Aggressor has been providing housing for the insurance adjusters as was not seriously damaged.
