Phone dealing question?

Hello all, I have heard that if you call places like Divers Supply, Leisure Pro, and other large online type stores that you will get a better than advertised price on items.

My question is how much better are the prices when you call in. I'm currently away from phone service so I'm just trying to get an idea what to expect when I get back.

alot better - As much as 35% off advertised prices better in my experience

I can't speak to any of those you listed but I have gotten better deals twice calling Scubatoys. Other times - just the shown price

I believe it's because they have to show MSRP for some mfr's in print but can sell for less.

Leisure Pro seems to be cutting back lately, but when I bought my Hydros Pro from them two years ago, I got an online/phone quote from them that was significantly less than list. In store prices with them have also been similarly reduced.

They're great to deal with in person, too. They're my "home" LDS and where I buy all my gear, take all my courses and consequently where I'm planning to DM. I don't believe I've paid MSRP for anything I've purchased from them.
