Hello folks!

Any up to date information about Perhentian Islands?
Diving ..
Place to stay…

Does it deserve a 15 hours by flight trip?
I’m loooking for a dive destination around June-July and I found weather seems fine!

Perhentian is a beautiful destination to go to. Whether or not it is worth a 15-hour flight just for the diving is pretty subjective. While diving there is very pleasant, I will not consider it world-class.

Perhentian is made up of 2 main islands, and depending what you are looking for will determine which Island to go for. Perhentian Kecil has got more of a backpacker vibe and is more lively, especially with its beach bars and parties on Long Beach. Perhentian Besar is more quiet, with resorts catered more toward families and couples.

Personally, because I normally travel solo to Perhentian, I prefer Kecil, as you would most likely make more friends.

June to July is a perfect time to go to Perhentian.

Thank you!!!!

This is my summer holiday to take rest from hard working, I have 2 weeks.

I’ve heard about coral bleaching,
This is what makes me worry about this trip.

I will land to kl and the plan is to take flight to an airport nearest a dive destination, so just in case could be also Borneo or other places reachable by Kuala Lumpur

Two wks for five islands: Perhentian x 2, Redang, Tenggol and Tioman.
KL to Kota Bharu or Tioman first? Bus or flight schedule is the deciding factor. KL airport is miles away from the city and airport bus easily takes an hr, train is faster but expensive.
BTW, all those places are NOT that great in diving.

We loved Tioman but not necessarily the diving. Lots of dynamite fishing and the Chinese blow out their bilge tanks pretty close to the islands so you'll get oil slicks and murky water on certain days.

Otherwise, Tioman is freaking awesome.
