I need to replace my Petrel 3 and am debating if I should get a Perdix 2. Difference seems to be screen type (AMOLED vs. LCD with LED backlight) and size. I do technical and CCR diving but won’t need to wire it to my CCR, just run it at fixed PPO2. Is there any big difference in the screens? Or any reason to stick with the Petrel if I don’t need to connect it to a CCR? I like the large screen since I don’t need reading lenses to see it but the Perdix doesn’t seem to be that much smaller.

Thanks!

The Petrel 3 was recalled, so you might want to check on any updates.

Something is flying over my head..
This might be out of scope to your question but…
How would you monitor your ppo2 then and know what you’re actually running at?
DIL flushes?
Does your unit have another monitor/controller?

Good question. I have a Poseidon with its own M28 computer to run the unit but I keep a second computer running on fixed PPO2 as backup. The M28 monitors PPO2 for the unit, but if there is a catastrophic failure I can bail out on the Sherewater and have a reasonable guess at a good bailout deco. It also serves as my primary computer I take on all my dives. I’ve been using a Petrel but given the Perdix seems to provide all the same functions I will probably replace it with the Perdix 2. Only thing I don’t know is how different the screens are for the two units. I hope to see one before I buy it but may have to order it online sight unseen.

Oh that makes a lot of sense now — I assume you have SS cells so a shearwater can’t interface with it

I suggest you try the user manuals for screen previews, I can’t really say anything about Perdix as I never used one
But I bet the 2 button interface is gonna be damn close/similar between both Petrel and Perdix
