I just got a Shearwater Perdix 2. Main considerations for this over the Peregrine was the user replaceable battery and tracking SfGF and GF99. I am getting ready to make my first dives with it and am considering using OC tec mode on a NC wreck trip. Decom is not planned or expected.... But I like being able to configure the center row with GF information. Old eyes and all that.
I realize that the computer will NOT "tell" me to perform a safety stop or track the length of it. I will make the stop and use GF information to "fine tune" per Andy Davis's article on the subject.
So my question is... Am I missing something? Is there a reason NOT to do this.... and to use rec mode instead?
TIA for any insight you can give me.

This is why I have a Perdix. I am a recreational diver but I use the OC Tec mode as I can have what I want on screen. Occasionality I will do some back gas deco dives and the Perdix is perfect for that.
Plus of course the digital screen which you can choose colours.

You setup your DC how you want it, use what GF settings you want and go enjoy your dives. I love the shearwater as it is not a babysitter. I also turned off the low NDL setting I don't need it. Yes for safety stop your time will count up. Have had some guides wondering why as their DC's count down lol
