I’m trying to plan a trip in the next few weeks, flying into Cancun. How has the traffic been lately between PDC and Cancun airport? Is there any reason to plan for more than 90 minutes by private transfer?

In early August, traffic was horrid because of road construction around the Cancun airport. The van company told me to allow two hours from PDC to Cancun. I’d allow two hours just to be on the safe side.

I was travelling everyday to Cancun for whale shark tours. The construction delay averaged about 30 minutes during the morning 9-10am. The delay was longer mid day. I would always plan for several hours time to get to airport regardless. I've seen accidents that cause 1 HR delays.
