Hi, a few questions on the Patima Smart 2 video housing...

I hope there is someone out there who owns this housing, or a seller that could provide some information.

How much is the actual weight of the housing. Different sources quote different numbers. It would be good to know the actual weight of someone who owns the housing.

How much is the housing negative in the water? If a large amount, can it be corrected by using some light arms that are positive?

Will this housing also have the "one push" white balance that L&M is now capable of doing? If not, how important is that? Most of my diving is in green waters, at 90 ft or more...

Any other feedback, positive or negative, on this housing?

Anybody know of a dealer in Canada? Or a dealer that sells to Canada?

Thanks, Dirk

Thanks, but I already read that review... it has some good information but the tread stopped where it was getting interesting...

I'm looking for someone who took the housing out for a real dive in salt water that can comment on the weighing underwater.

And any other general feedabck after using the housing for a few times...

It seems like a very economic way for a housing for the sony XR500V with electronic controls, back LCD, etc... way cheaper than L&M or others....
Just wondering if there is a catch to this deal...

Dirk

Send him a PM, I believe he took it to the Bahamas last fall.

I don't think he's checking his Scubaboard account anymore... he's not replying his private messages.

Anybody else who has any experience with this housing?

Most interesting point would be the weight difference with the L&M Stingray housing.

Price wise, if you include a wide angle lens, the price is not to far apart. The Patimahousing would be 1299$ + 359$ for the wide angle lens.

The Stingray+ (including wide angle lens) would be 1999$ plus 125$ for an additional handle (without controls).

Difference after this would be that the Stingray + only has one set on controls, but has an internal filter. The Patima housing has 2 sets of controls, but no internal filter.

Both housings have access to manual white balanace, allthough only the Stingray+ has a one push solution (Patima will have to go via the menu). Manual white balanace is not that important to me, as most of my diving is in green waters, at dephts from 60ft to 200ft where manual wite balance is not that effective. I also always use video lights (2 x 24 watt HID's).

Any opinions out there?

Dirk
