Hi All,

I have a Canon S100 in an ikelite housing and currently using 2 x YS-01 Sea and Sea strobes and getting some experience with 1 x inon ucl-100 m67

However i am noticing that i can see part of the lens in the pictures (always about a quarter of it in the same place - towards top and slightly left) - example pic below.

Is this a strobe position issue (perhaps too far forward - which dont think it is as its always in the same place) or perhaps i need to zoom a little?

Thanks

Dave

Been having a quick google - at found something with not exactly the same but quite close - it seems it is because there is a gap between the camera lens and the front of the port. So will try to zoom in next time to decrease the gap.

That does look like a reflection of your lens in the port. I've used matte black vinyl cut to size on some lenses to reduce that effect while shooting toward the sun but for work like this you should be able to fix it with a little different strobe positioning.

Thanks Jah - will be out diving again the weekend so will try the zoom bit and also various strobe positions to see what works (or not) lol

I masked off carefully my camera body and lens opening and sprayed the lens surround with Krylon Ultra Flat black, one quick shot. No more reflections of the lens beauty ring.

Use a diffuser, move the strobe back so it is behind the lens and further to the side.

This is usually caused by strong light coming straight at the camera lens and port and reflecting from the lens and surround to the port glass. It causes a general reduction in contrast even when not locally visible as in your photo.
