Hi
We are planning a 3 week trip to RA in November 14 . Because the Papua Explorers is a quite new resort, i couln`t find any reports beside on their homepage. Compared to Kri Eco which is our original choice, it looked as you get a bit more for you money - concerning the accomodation. But what is about the diving, the quality of the guides, the housereef ( current, snorkeling etc.) Looking forward to any information about this new resort.

You may also want to consider raja4divers or Misool Eco in the Raja Ampat area. I have no info on Papua Explorers…sorry.

Misool Eco Resort offers great dive sites but the transfer boat from Sorong is not reliable. My return trip last year took 8 hrs. Resort is also quite pricey compared to other options in RA. Heard good reports about raja4divers.

I'm just in the process of booking a trip to Misool for early 2015. From what they tell me, they have a brand new luxury transfer boat, in service as of mid this year. There are pictures on the website now.

If the budget was for Kri then Misool is double the price. I stayed at Kri quite awhile ago (5 years) but enjoyed it, and would be happy to provide any info about it if you want to pm me. Sorry, can't help with Papua Explorers

I just spend two weeks at Raja Ampat Biodiversity. First I was a bit skeptical because I didn't find any reviews but I was so happy there that instead of the one planned week I skipped my flight and stayed there for one more week. There are just 4 new bungalows, therefore the maximum of diver is 8. Sometimes I was the only person in the resort and I really enjoyed the "dives for experienced divers only" with Rey. The food was awesome, the location is lovely (nice beach, just in front of one of my favorite dive sites "Batu Lima") and everything is organized well. I wouldn't go back to Kri Eco Resort. I was there in October and there were some issues which made me think that I payed too much money for what I got. The bungalows were run down and every day when I checked my equipment on the boat, something was missing (I don't mind setting up my own equipment, as long as I know it beforehand..), the whole organization seemed a bit sloppy and impersonal. Let me know if you want more information.

Thank you Ross1 ! Very informative report. Hope they get Nitrox soon. In that case we will definatly consider to go there in November.

Papua Explorers Dive Resort is straight across the water from Raja Ampat Dive Lodge, where we stayed from Dec 20 to 27, 2013. RADL seems to have a bit more amenities like A/C and Wi-Fi (not very good to say it kindly). RADL does not have Nitrox.

SpottySeaBass ;) any chance of whipping together a trip report on your trip to RA and Bali? There are very few reviews of RADL here on SB and they are a definite option considering they are even slightly cheaper than Explorers.
