I am looking at Papa Freds for April to reduce cost over El Galleon. There are a lot of posts about eating there but I am not seeing any about staying there. Has anyone stayed there and do they have a dive-op or work with one?

I had eaten there a few times nothing to write home about.
There are several established and reputable dive resorts in the area.
1. Big La Laguna Beach: La Laguna Beach Club and Dive Centre and its neighbour Scandi Divers Resort. Very very quiet in the evening.
2. Sabang Beach(the beach has gone and replaced by a promenade): Capt'n Gregg's. Could be a bit noisy at night.
3. Small La Laguna Beach: Action Divers(not sure if they offer accommodation). Quiet area.

Make sure you do not pick any Korean resort or those catering mainly for chinese.

I have found some video of Papa Fred's. Looks like "nothing to write home about" is correct but honestly the shots of the pools side rooms at El Galleon look pretty rough too. Still saving $25 a night, getting a bigger room and the roof top looks nice to lay out on. I'll give it a shot and post when I get back in May let you know how it went.

Thanks for your reply Centrals.
