Has anyone been to both Palau and Raja Ampat? Which one was more awe-inspiring? Would love to hear about your trips

In my book Raja Ampat is better.
More fish, better reefs, better Mantas.

Palau has better shark action but Raja Ampat is improving a bit lately

I have. For me, Raja Ampat had a wider amount of critters and the land activities were amazing as well. Did liveaboards in both places. Both were great but there is a wide variety of diving in RA compared to mostly walls in Palau. Certainly many more sharks in Palau and incredible views as well as WWII history, while RA had the huge schools of fish, the big mantas nearly every critter in the id book plus different islands all the time. Airfare to Palau from USA is particularly high nowadays as well.

I've been in Raja Ampat 5 times and the 6th will be next month. Then in December I'll be in Palau for the 1st time, so I'm too interested in hearing more about the comparison between the 2 places.

Palau is about 500 miles northeast from Raja Ampat. So, I would think there would be some similarities in terms of their fauna & flora.

The fauna and flora are indeed similar.
IMHO RA was more profuse in fish life and diversity. The soft coral was also more abundant. Many of Palaus sites are walls which yes have soft coral and sponge habitat but not on the level of RA.
My guides in Palau were defiantly more focused on big stuff and tended to swim right over the macro. Macro in RA definitely was more profuse.
