Padi rescue diver or iantd rescue diver

guys just wondering which certification agency i should get myself certified with for the rescue diver course. both agencies are very good but i am inclined towards iantd. they seem more thorough. i could be wrong though. any advice would be great, thanks.

I see that you are not getting any answers to your question, so I'll take a shot at it.

As you have noted in other posts, it is always the instructor who makes the course into something valuable to the student.

I am both a PADI IDC Staff Instructor, and an IANTD Instructor Trainer, so I know both courses.

They are both good courses, and are a lot of fun as well. It is hard work, but doing the rescue scenarios is very enjoyable, if they are well "acted".

If I had to rate the two courses, I would have to describe the IANTD course as more demanding, but again, it is always up to the instructor. Either one will help make the student into a better, more self-reliant diver.

My rescue was IANTD. I chose the instructor not the agency but IANTD does allow the instructor to harass the student more than some others. The attack of the mask pulling. sucker punching hose grabber victim will prepare you for anything

As BigJet says it's more the instructor than the agency. I agree that the IANTD course is designed to challenge you more but you could have a PADI instructor or an SSI instructor or an instructor from any agency that will make it worth your while. Or screw it up. Interview your instructor and go from there.

thanks guys you pretty much answered my questions. i have already established the fact that both my ow and aow in padi were very good experiences. instructor was topnotch but i have to admit he did let me off the hook several times and i have seen him conduct several rescue classes and i wasnt too happy. i guess if i can interview or meet the iantd instructor i would come closer to making a decision.

i agree. will try to interview and meet the iantd instructor. im pretty much more inclined to take it at IANTD. the more demanding the requiremnts the better.

I had same sort of experience with my PADI instructors - underwater, the divemaster was doing panicked diver, and chased me very hard, I lost a fin and was extremely out of breath (I'm not in bad shape either)by the time I got her in a tank hold. On the surface, the instructor was panicked diver and chased me, ripped of my mask and tore the reg out of my mouth as I was trying to back away. Both times, the only reason I got away is because I could swim faster than them, they weren't holding back at all.
It was a great experience, awesome course
