I am taking a trip to an Iberostar resort in Punta Cana in a few weeks and they offer the Project Aware fish ID course. It is an extra 100 dollars and you need to use two of your dives (I'm doing five). Has anyone taken it? Is it worth it? I don't want to spend the rest of the trip studying.

Thanks

There are a lots of these kind of courses available. The end goal is to be able to participate in some of the on going research being done. Project Aware, REEF and Reef Check all offer courses.

We are taping a Reef Check Training (Three day course) for our TV show Travelers In Paradise. It is being taped in August and will air starting on September 28th at 9:30 AM on Versus Network, and on our web site.

Take the course. It will be well worth the effort, even if all you achieve is a better ability to identify what you are looking at . The more we know about the worlds oceans the more we realize how very little we really know.

Yeah for $100 its worth it, the amount of time i see a fish coral ect and dont know what it is, is really frustrating especially when you are trying to describe it to some one, if you di it let us know how you get one
