PADI DM internship audits can be done with another school,shop?

I've got 3 more open water internship/audits to complete my DM unfortunately i check with my school and business has been slow and there's nothing I can do. I'm tempted to go to another school/shop and see if there are any opportunities there. I'm too afraid to ask my instructor.

How does this sound? "Hey is it okay if I go to dive shop XYZ and see a different instructor to get my audits?". What do you think he's going to think or say?

How about; "Since it's slow I'm going to check with XYZ about getting my audits done there. If you have something transpire in the mean time give me call."
Your instructor dosen't own you, no need to ask permission.
