I was just wondering what the typical time to get the PADI card was. We finished our open water course and got the temporary cards on about June 10th. Since its nearing the end of September now, is this a typical wait?

No, it seems long. You can call them and ask if they sent them out. They will be able to tell you over the phone what your card status is and where they sent it. When I got mine, I had the same problem, but found out they had sent the cards to my instructor instead of me.

Time to give PADI a call and see what is going on. They will be able to tell you if they got the paper work and if so when it was processed. I would also give my instructor a call to see if they even submitted it. It normally only takes about 3 weeks.

I completed my OW cert on July 30 and got my card about 2 weeks ago.

That is too long. Check with your instructor.

I was certified august 13th and just got my card today. It came in a few days ago, actually it came a little while before I showed up at the shop to get some things, but they hadn't opened the mail yet. Litereally minutes after I left they found it, I'm told.

Thanks for the responses everybody. Looks like I get to call PADI to find out what is going on! Hopefully my dive shop sent everything in, otherwise I have yet another reason to use somebody else for my next set of classes.

You need to call the dive shop.

When I did my PADI AOW - the shop never bothered to forward the paperwork to PADI to process the card.

They did follow up once I called!

We use on-line card applications, it takes about ten days for our students to get their cards. If you PM me with your name, including middle initial and date of birth I can see if you've made it into the system yet.

I got OW certified June 13th and received my card August 25th. Whereas my boyfriend got his AOW certification also on June 13th and got his card within 3 weeks. I think it just depends on the batch. I do know that you have to go through your dive shop to find out the status. PADI sends the cards to your LDS and then forwards them to you. If your temporary card has expired, it is definitly time to contact the LDS. I believe they're good for 90 days...

I got my AOW certification on August 17th and haven't received that card yet but I'm not expecting any time soon! ;)
