I started my Advabced PADI course, but time is short up here. once you take the class how long do you have to complete the advanture dives?

there is no time limit to complete adventure dives..obviouslyif out of the water for any extended amount of time a refresher may be in order.

Thank you for the reply, i thought this was the case but wanted to make sure. I did the classroom part and have the card. I also did two of the adventure dives, navigation and the peak bouncy dives.
I also had a chance for the search and recovery dive but ran out of gas and air!!

Hope they didn't get you for too much $$. PADI AOW is self study and 5 dives, should not require classroom. Did watch a dvd on the Adventure dives with more specific on some. Did all 5 dives this weekend at Lake Jocassee in SC Nav., S & R, Night, Deep, and Wreck....done 1 weekend $195 including materials and boat fees. Spent about 3 hours on surface with random training. Used The SCUBA Shop out of Spartanburg, SC PADI 5 Star....Mike and Corey great guys...father/son. Good instructors and DM's.

You have an AOW card? Shouldn't have since you have only completed two out of the five dives. You still need to do a deep dive and two more 'electives'

I am also wondering how you managed to run out of gas *and* air - sorry - a little joke at your expense there ( :D ) but did they only give you one tank or something? Or did they just run out of tanks! :)

And yes - to answer the question the certification lasts indefinitely...

Cheers

Just to make sure we are on the same page; did you say you already have received a PADI AOW cert card?

Well, no WONDER so many people have trouble maintaining a constant depth in the water column!

:eyebrow:

First time to hear someone getting an AOWD certification after 2 dives. Must be a new organisation. If that really was the AOWD card.

Every course has its Manual. As a student you dont have to be checking the standards and the requirements of the course. As a student your job is to perform well. But incase you have a instructor who does not follow the rules and standards make sure you achieve all of it. Make sure he does not take shortcuts. You will know easily when you miss a couple of hundred pages from the Manual.

Lack of knowledge in a sport like diving can get you in trouble.

Good Luck
