I'm in the process of planning a 2 week trip to Australia- final destination is Cairns and the Mike Ball 4 day boat out to the Osprey Reef area...trying to route the trip through either Fiji or Tahiti...does anyone have any input or recommendations as to the diving pros and cons and the flight connections. Thanks in advance.

Howard, Accidentally saw your post on the central america forum site (post on the Australia and you're sure to get lots of responses...) but wanted to answer your questions. Qantas codeshares with Air Pacific (Qantas sells half of the tickets and the Fijian airline the other) and flies to Nadi from Sydney. We stayed at Wananavu which is on the northern tip of Viti Levu (where the international airport is) and had a great time. There are over 300 islands to choose from in Fiji but staying on the main island allows you to avoid the puddle jumper flights with the baggage allowances for dive gear etc. South of the island is also supposed to have incredible diving. Osprey Reef is great. We dove on Taka and the diving out in the Coral Sea is phenomenal. If you have any more questions feel free to ask. You've got an amazing trip ahead of you!!! ~stacie
